The scholarship was established by the Class of 1986 in memory of their Class President, Paul T. Murphy, who was stricken and died suddenly during his senior year. Paul, a Media major, was active in numerous campus activities and organizations. In addition to the original contribution from his class, this scholarship has received contributions from Paul's family and friends.

Conditions
Available to an undergraduate Communication Arts major.
Must be a student leader with documented community and campus involvement.
Applicant must have minimum QPA of 2.75.
Applicant must have completed twelve (12) full course credits and have at least one more semester to complete.
Financial need will not be a consideration for the award.
