Looking Forward to 150 Years

Published in the ECHO, Spring 2023

We look toward to our Sesquicentennial in 2024!  We’d love your input into this celebration of our unique 150-year-old college heritage.  Did you know that there are very few independent college alumni associations in the United States?  There may be only two others governed by Alumni. Our new logo celebrates this longevity with the words “est. 1874”.

Events in 2022 included the autumn Scholarship Reception for the recipients and their families, the springtime Coffee and Conversations, and our June Annual Meeting.  Activities this past year included our alumni teams reading Scholarship Applications and signing the December Holiday Cards.

In August, we invited our new FSU President, Dr. Nancy Niemi to a Meet and Greet reception with the IAFSA Executive Board and neighbors.  We entertained with our FSU Staffordshire china and delicious finger foods, beginning the evening with a champaign toast, courtesy of our President, Heather Lee, ’95.  Dr. Niemi is very interested in IAFSA and plans to emphasize the “life-changing” aspect of a college education.

An IAFSA member who recently visited Alumni House had received three scholarships from IAFSA in the past. He graduated early and immediately applied to graduate school. His time at Framingham had such a positive effect on his life that he hopes to become a professor here. He also asked how to get involved with IAFSA. We were part of his support network and now he wants to help future students. This is why we do what we do.
